Code of Conduct
Building a safe, inclusive, and respectful community for all QA professionals
Our Commitment
TAQELAH is dedicated to providing a harassment-free, inclusive, and welcoming experience for everyone in Singapore's QA and testing community, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, or experience level.
We do not tolerate harassment of community participants in any form. We expect all participants—attendees, speakers, sponsors, organizers, and volunteers—to abide by this Code of Conduct in all community spaces, both online and offline.
Expected Behavior
- Be Respectful: Treat everyone with respect. Recognize that people have different perspectives, backgrounds, and expertise levels.
- Be Inclusive: Welcome and support people of all backgrounds and identities. Champion diversity in testing and quality engineering.
- Share Knowledge Generously: Help others learn. Share your experiences, tools, and insights openly with the community.
- Engage Constructively: Provide constructive feedback. Critique ideas, not people. Focus on helping each other grow as testing professionals.
- Ask for Help: Don't hesitate to ask questions. No question is too basic—we were all beginners once.
- Respect Boundaries: Be mindful of personal space and professional boundaries, especially in physical meetups.
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are considered harassment and are unacceptable within our community:
- Discriminatory language or behavior based on gender, race, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic
- Offensive comments, insults, or personal attacks
- Sexual harassment, unwelcome sexual attention, or inappropriate physical contact
- Intimidation, stalking, or following (online or in person)
- Sustained disruption of talks, events, or online discussions
- Publishing private information (doxxing) without explicit permission
- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior
QA Community Values
As a community focused on quality engineering and testing, we hold ourselves to high standards:
- Quality in Discourse: Apply the same rigor we use in testing to our conversations—be thorough, evidence-based, and fair.
- No Tool Shaming: Different tools and approaches work for different contexts. Avoid belittling others' technology choices or methodologies.
- Continuous Improvement: Embrace learning and growth. We're all on a journey to become better testers and engineers.
- Transparency: Be open about failures and challenges. The testing community learns most from honest discussions about what didn't work.
Reporting Issues
If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any concerns, please report it immediately:
Email: taqelahsg@gmail.com
In-person: Speak to any TAQELAH organizer at our events
All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality. We are committed to protecting the privacy and safety of reporters.
Consequences
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including:
- Warning the offender
- Expulsion from the event or online space without refund
- Temporary or permanent ban from future TAQELAH events and platforms
- Reporting to relevant authorities if necessary
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to all TAQELAH community spaces, including but not limited to:
- Physical meetups and events
- Online platforms (Telegram, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.)
- Email communications
- Conference booths and sponsor tables
- Any other spaces where TAQELAH community members gather
